43rd New Ways of Analyzing Variation (NWAV)

Conference URL: http://www.nwav43.illinois.edu

Abstract submission is now open for the 43rd New Ways of Analyzing Variation conference (NWAV 43) that will be held on October 23-26, 2014 in the Hilton Chicago Magnificent Mile Suites hotel in downtown Chicago, Illinois, and hosted jointly by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

We invite submissions for papers in all areas related to language variation and change. Abstracts should be submitted via the online EasyAbs submission at http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/NWAV2014

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words (not including references) and must be anonymized, i.e., the abstract cannot have any reference to the author(s) of the abstract. If references are cited in addition to the 500 word limit, publications from the author(s) should be omitted in that section, as well.

Authors may submit one singly-authored and one jointly-authored abstract, or two jointly-authored abstracts. Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed. Papers will be considered for both oral and poster presentations. Oral presentations will be expected to last 20 minutes with 5 minutes for questions. Poster presentations will be featured at a two-hour, separate poster session on October 24.

We are also accepting proposals for a limited number of panel sessions. Prospective panel organizers should include individual 500-word abstracts for each participant and a 300-word abstract explaining the rationale for the panel. Panel abstracts will undergo regular review.
