Qs: Critical Discourse Analysis; Italian Phonemes
Editor for this issue: Vanessa Manion <vanessalinguistlist.org>
We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Dear all,
Within critical discourse analysis, it is argued that increasing
attention has been directed to code-switching, code-mixing and
style-shifting as ways in which certain speakers (for instance
working-class people) in liminal, marginal, or in-between positions
can use their "linguistic flexibility" to transgress social
barriers and overcome class distinctions.
Could any of you please suggest ideas and works on the relationship
between code-switching and critical discourse analysis within the
scope of power relations (power and resistance), inequality and class
struggle?
With regards and thanks,
Hilal Erkazanci

I'm looking for information on frequency of consonant phonemes in standard Italian.
The only reference I've come across is the 1988 Barcelona Corpus
(unpublished) by the Instituto per Linguistica Computazionale at Pisa.
Any information on this corpus or another resource for frequency would
be greatly appreciated.
