Little seems to be known about the anecdotally reported phenomenonof intra-word code-switching in spoken language, e.g., Zulu andEnglish: the Zulu 'i' prefix is used as a plural morpheme marker beforeEnglish words; Maltese and English: English morpheme markers areadded to Maltese words to mark tense and plurality.

Winford (2003, An Introduction to Contact Linguistics) concluded thatthere is no consensus about the extent and type of borrowing possiblein language contact situations.

We are a research team setting up a corpus of data on thisphenomenon. We would appreciate it if you could send any examplesfrom your own experience or from other speakers you may know, tol.litosseliticity.ac.uk.
