Description:
We invite applications for a post-doc position
(65%) in theoretical linguistics (lexical
semantics and its interfaces with
morphology/syntax/pragmatics) at the University
of Stuttgart, Germany. The position should be
filled as soon as possible and is available
until the 30th of June 2018. Salary is
according to the German TV-L E13 scale.
The candidate will contribute to the project B5
of the Sonderforschungsbereich (collaborative
research center) 732, (URL above), 'Incremental
Specification in Context'. The central aims of
the project are (i) to construct semantic
analyses of French verbs that account for the
way their event inferences vary in context, and
to account for the lexical, supralexical and
sub-lexical factors that influence these
inferences/ the disambiguation process, and
(ii) to develop lexical resources that enable
these analyses.
Desired qualifications:
- Ph.D. in theoretical or computational
linguistics
- Specialization in lexical semantics
- Preferably some experience in relevant
domains of computational linguistics (XML and
processing of XML data, corpus-linguistic
tools, parsing, programming or scripting
languages)
- Very good command of French for candidates
without computational background.
An interest in diachronic syntax/semantics of
Romance languages is welcome, but not
required.
We offer the opportunity to work on
cutting-edge research projects in a dynamic and
international research team with up-to-date
infrastructure and resources. English is the
working language.
