The Poznań Linguistic Meeting (PLM) is an annual general linguistics conference organized by the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.

51st Poznań Linguistic Meeting (PLM2022)
“What can linguists offer to AI? Unique contributions of linguistics to science and beyond.”
We are very happy to announce the 51st edition of the Poznań Linguistic Meeting on 08–10 Sep 2022. It will be organized by the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.
The jubilee 50th PLM, albeit held digitally, was a great success. However, we cherish the hope that we will be able to meet in person once again in 2022. Face-to-face interaction, both during scholarly sessions and social events, is vital to the maintenance of the scientific community.
In recent years, advances in broadly construed Artificial Intelligence have made an impact on all walks of life, and linguistics is not an exception. From text mining to dialogue agents, the power of modern hardware and software has changed our field in important ways. But does that mean that the traffic is one-way only? Are we on the verge of solving all the major problems of natural language understanding? Whether you think that that indeed is the case, or wish to argue that linguistics still has a lot to offer to AI, and, more generally, science and society, going far beyond “big data” and machine learning, we invite you to contribute to the debate. Contributions from all subdisciplines of linguistics not related to the leitmotif are also more than welcome.
PLENARY EVENTS
The keynote address and plenary speakers will be announced at a later date.
As is our tradition, we will conclude with a Grand Debate related to the leitmotif.
PhD SESSION
Our special session aimed at young researchers looking for feedback on their PhD projects will see a new development this year. We are very happy to announce that we can offer conference fee waivers to the authors of the ten abstracts submitted by PhD candidates receiving the best review scores. This is made possible by a subsidy from the Ministry of Education.
SUBMISSIONS
Proposals of thematic/workshop sessions and papers are invited for both oral and poster presentations related to the leitmotif and to other topics within modern linguistics.
Each paper in the general oral sessions will be given 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for discussion. Poster sessions will form an integral part of the conference programme. The number of submissions is limited to one single-authored plus one co-authored abstract per author (or two co-authored ones). This limitation does not apply to PhD candidate posters. The language of the conference is English. All abstracts will be processed using the EasyChair conference management system. The submissions will be reviewed by our International Advisory Board. Please visit our website for more detailed abstract submission guidelines, along with abstract review criteria.
We also invite proposals for thematic/workshop sessions. A proposal for a workshop session should include a clear statement of its objectives/topic/message (about 300 words) as well as at least four names of proposed speakers (with affiliations) and a sample bibliography. Thematic workshop proposals will be subject to review by our International Advisory Board. Please note that the organiser(s) of a thematic/workshop session will be expected to solicit submissions, advertise the session through appropriate channels, and manage the reviewing process within EasyChair. We reserve the right to make final decisions regarding the inclusion of thematic/workshop session papers in the programme.

- Notification of acceptance for thematic sessions: 11 February 2022
- Submission deadline for general session abstracts (oral and poster sessions): 28 February 2022
